Things you will need to do the job

• A flat screen TV, an LCD, Led Or plasma of any size will do the trick.

Any tv will do as long as it is flat, led, lcd, or plasma.

• A wall bracket, there are many different types but the flat to the wall bracket are more suitable for larger TV’s and the flexible arm brackets best used on the smaller TV’s up to say 24″

This one is a standard type and will fit most TV's

• A drill, you need a drill cordless or corded with a hammer action if drilling into a solid wall with a Chuck big enough to hold a 12mm drill bit.

With a side handle for extra stability

• A spirit level – no point fitting your TV to the wall if is isn’t straight
• Drill bits, masonry.

That just about covers what you will need before you can start mounting your TV on your wall. all brackets come with all the fixings you will need to fit your TV on the wall. As i take you through the process of getting your TV hung on your wall looking great if may use terminology that you are not sure of. if i do and there is something you don’t understand feel free to leave a comment.

Step 1 – determine wall type.

There are a few variations of wall types you may encounter when you comes to fitting your TV.

They are as follows:

• Solid brick wall (will feel hard not hollow, usually in houses over 25 years old) these walls are my personal favourites for hanging TV’s very straight forward.
• Solid wall with plasterboard on top (difficult to tell, but a simple method is to get a screw driver and knock it into your wall, after 15mm or so you should reach a hollow which should then hit something solid, do this a few times in different places to be sure.)
• Plasterboard with timber frame. (easy to detect, can usually just push the wall and get flexing or some movement) when knocked will sound hollow everywhere.

Step 2 – Assemble bracket

• all brackets come with simple assembly instructions

Step 3 - Mark hole positions on wall for bracket

• It is a common mistake to put your TV too high, imagine your TV is on a stand and that is a good way to choose your height, otherwise you will strain your neck watching TV.
• 2 people – 1 person should hold the bracket to the wall with a level on top and ensure it is level. Person 2 using a pencil should mark 8 evenly spaced holes in the locations the bracket diagram states.
• remove bracket and level.

Step 4 – Drill holes NOTE: walls should be checked for electrical cables and pipes using detector.

• solid wall -  using a drill bit the size the bracket diagram states (usually 12mm) drill into all 8 positions that you previously marked out to the depth bracket diagram states
• solid with plasterboard – using a drill bit the size the bracket diagram states (usually 12mm) drill into all 8 positions that you previously marked out to the depth bracket diagram states
• Plasterboard on timber – drill until there is no resistance. usually about 15mm

Step 4  - Secure bracket

• Using the supplied fixings fit the bracket to the wall and tighten all fixings until hand tight then 1 more turn.

Step 4 – Mount your TV

• Its tough to do but you have to trust the bracket you have fitted, if fitted correctly you will be able to hang off it yourself.
• 2 people should lift the TV and hook it over the bracket then secure using security bolts.
• Then fit your cables.

Thats it job done NEARLY.

Hanging a tv on the wall is almost done but what do you do with those cables. well you have 3 options, leave them untidy and trailing, fit them in a plastic trunking which is available from any hardware store, or get a Manchester Plasterer in to bury them cables in the wall.
